As a child I can remember my siblings being brought home and placed in antique white cribs. My parents have pictures of me in it as well. My mom loaned it out when she was done having babies to a friend but they never got it back to her. That is disappointing as I would love to have it for my first child. That is what started me on my quest to find antique white cribs.

However, I didn’t want to get one that was decades old. There are many reasons for this. First, they weren’t made as safe as they are today. I didn’t want to increase the risk of an accident occurring just to get one. Many of them also contained lead paint which we now know is harmful for children.

I started looking around online though and found antique white cribs that are new, they just have that vintage look to them. I knew as soon as I saw them that this is what I needed to have for my child. No matter where in your home that you plan to place such a crib it is going to blend in nicely.

They are old fashioned but not to the point where they look like an antique. The simplicity of them is what draws me to the appearance. I love the fact that it also has teething guards on the railings. I can remember the old antique white cribs my mom had with plenty of teeth marks in it from all of us kids. The design of this one means my child has a safe place to bite if they choose to do so.

The mattress can also be moved to three different levels for my convenience and the safety of my baby. Such practical matters have to be given attention in order to take good care of a child. I trust a crib that has focused on making sure such aspects of my child’s needs are able to be accommodated.

I do feel that these antique white cribs are a bit pricey though. I decided to go ahead and splurge on it but would have liked to get it for a lower price. Yet when there is a demand for such a product I guess that influences the overall cost you can buy it for. I do wish there that it didn’t take me so long to find out that this option existed too. I guess they don’t realize that more people would buy them if they knew they were out there.

Antique White Cribs – Conclusion

On the other hand I am delighted to have the antique white cribs set up in the nursery and ready to go. Every time I look at it, there is a reminder that soon a baby will be occupying it and our lives will be greatly changed forever. I already have my digital camera in place too though so I can take many pictures of my baby playing and sleeping in this crib.
